A Revolution

Sun Jan 15, 2006, 11:02 PM
This journal is a direct copy from this one written by =nous-sommes-vous, and has been copied with written permission. I think this is a damn fine idea and should be spread around further!

=nous-sommes-vous's journal begins:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Whenever people on here complain that dA isn't what it used to be, that they're not being recognised, feel that they're lost in an ocean of others, or think that dA is just shit because nobody looks and comments on their work, I laugh to myself and smile.

What these people are forgetting is that for the community to give to them, they must first give to the community.

My 1-step solution, for these people, is this:
1. Get back into the community!

This can be further broken down in to components..:
1a. Comment. Not "comment to get comments", but "comment to get back into the community spirit".

Futher still:
1a.i. Visit random deviations, explore artwork that you haven't purposely chosen to look at (thus getting outside a comfort zone of the artwork one is used to) and
1a.ii. Visit random deviants, leave a message on their page spreading some community love, check out their gallery.

These steps may in time lead to you receiving more comments and whatnot, but the main thing to keep in mind is not "I'm only doing this so I can get more pageviews!" because then you are doing it for the wrong reasons and with the wrong motivation. You have to do it with an open mind, a smile, and a good spirit. Who knows, you'll see stuff you really like, you'll see stuff that you can leave constructive criticism on and help that person grow. You'll get back in to the community and it will be awesome, for all concerned.

Trust me, it works. You just need to give it a try :)

Going to random deviants and deviations is as simple as opening up My Message Centre and on the sidebar is a section saying My Account, where you'll find links to the randoms.

To help this revolution, I've made a few stamps and will try to explain how to link in your journal.
:star:For Subscribers::star:
Type or Copy:
< a href="http://www. deviantart. com/random/deviation" >< img src="http://i22. photobucket.com/ albums/b312/gclifford87/R-hearts-deviation.png" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"></ A></ A>
Take out all the spaces except the ones between a and href, and img and src (so it's a href= and img src=), and leave a space before alt and all of the alt part needs to be left as it is.
This will give you:

Again, note the spaces.

Bloody hell, that was long. I hope it was understandable enough. Please, put these in your journal to spread the word, and then exercise the links to their full potential! We need more commenting and community love around here, people. And it's up to each and every one of us to do our bit. :)

with love and hope.

Here ends =nous-sommes-vous's journal.

So let's get out there and start dA Revolution! I've been slowly moving through extended circles, quickly finding unknowns who are related to people who are related to people who are related to me in some way on dA, which is also a nice way to go. Sometimes it's nice to know that someone you know knows someone who's nice enough to move outside their own circle too.

YARGH! :ahoy: Your deviation r0x0rz my :b0x0rz:

"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened."
:iconojcme:
"This community means about as much to me as a festering ball of dog snot. You think I care about the pea-brained yokels of this town? If you took their combined I.Q., and multiplied it by a hundred, you might have enough intelligence to tie your shoe, if you didn't drool all over yourself first. I can't stand those sniveling maggots. They make me want to puke. But, there is one good thing about broadcasting to a town full of mindless sheep. I always know I have them exactly where I want them. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. "
:iconceleserenity:
:D Also what I'm finally getting back to. I used to do the branching out before, but back when I was doing that they didn't HAVE "random deviant" as a url that worked to link you to random deviants, they just didn't!
